#Blackout #SOPAstrike…What’s it doing?

I’m all for the 1st amendment and the right to outwardly speak up, but only when it is not physically hurting anyone. So when I heard about the SOPA and PIPA laws that might pass, I was furious. Not that I’m excusing piracy but I believe the American people have the right to censor themselves if they want to, not their government forcing censorship upon them.

However, I have noticed as this day rolls on, that the blackout strike against SOPA and PIPA hasn’t necessarily hurt them at all. We needed bigger online forces to blackout i.e.: Google, Online newspapers, Online Magazines, Facebook, Twitter and other major social network outlets.

As for the fashion community, I don’t think the blackout has affected anything there. All my favorite fashion sites and bloggers are still up and running. And lately, Anna Wintour has been using her politico manner to speak against tyranny but I have not heard her say a word about the SOPA controversy.

Although, I have to say, I’m really glad Google isn’t doing a blackout. But with Obama against SOPA, I think it’s only a matter of time before SOPA is wiped out. We all just have to wait it out.
